Nationally, AIL works through its 80 provincial Sections. These Sections are an auxiliary resource for the main hematological centres in Italy.
AIL Sections take on many tasks. All tasks are directed at improving assistance to patients and providing support to hematology centres. These tasks include supporting scientific research and home assistance. Home assistance activities are spreading, and more Case AIL are being set up. AIL also purchases machines and equipment for public hematological centres. It also purchases and renovates buildings, and finances the work towards renovating, extending and setting up hematological departments.

These provincial Sections are legally and administratively autonomous.
